Integration Between High Speed Rail and Urban Rail Systems In Turkey
(Master's Thesis)


High Speed Trains, which play an important role in transit passenger transport between cities and are expected to gain more importance in the following years, offer passengers a fast and comfortable journey and easy access.

However, the integration of rail systems and High Speed Trains in the city is often not achieved, thus the rate of choice of High Speed Train by passengers may reduce. More efficient use of large investments; In order to achieve the comfort and speed promised to passengers, High Speed Train systems should be considered not only as an intercity transportation system, but as a part of the city's transportation network.

In this project, to be efficient and accessible to passengers on behalf of the High Speed Train network operating in Turkey, the issue of integration with the urban rail system are examined, various analyzes and inferences were made by presenting the current situation, suggestions were developed by developing methods.

Turkish National Train Projects


As a project of Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication of Turkey, The National Train Project is one of the biggest transport project of Turkey. With a 80.000.000€ budget, as Turkey's leading technology and industry institutions TÜBİTAK, Aselsan, İstanbul Technical University and TCDD are stakeholders of this project. Project has 3 sections: High Speed Train, Electrical and Diesel Multiple Units and Freight Car.

Project aims not only to produce first national hi-tech trains, but also develop a know-how among public and private enterprises about producing the parts of advanced trains.


TCDD Chamber of Factories department team shoulders the leader role in Projects Executive Teams. In brief, the responsibility of team is about managing the entire projects, managing and control of design and producting process, organising the communication between stakeholders and contractors.
